- This paper is making an argument for the doing of audience research to be made an integral part of the education of media practitioners. This is necessary as a basis for developing new contents and formats and transforming the Web medium by using its full capability to address the interests of multiple audience groups. Knowledge of audiences also provides the opportunity to reflect back to communities what their media interests are, and to discuss the significance of these for their own times.
